Forte - New Tenor Group on America's Got Talent

15 posts in this topic

This season on AGT, there's an exceptional new tenor group called Forte. There are 3 guys, Fernando, Josh, and Sean (who replaced the original member from the audition) . People are saying that Josh Page sang with Josh Groban at one of his concerts one time! I'll have to research that! And Fernando Varela has performed with Hayley Westenra, so I'd seen him before he was on this show!

Here's the audition to Pie Jesu:

Here's their performance of The Prayer in the Vegas call-back round:

And, their latest perfomance of Somewhere in the quarter-finals this week (they made it!):

yes!! :)

on the Straight To You tour, when Josh did the Q&A, they would often let someone in the audience sing with him on the little stage in the back - Josh Page was one of them, he got to sing with 'our' Josh, but I forgot which concert venue it was...

edit: I think the Josh and Josh bit was at Madison Square Garden!

Thanks for the info!

And I did post the full audition above, just minus the judges' critiques, that's all. :)

That's okay! It's a great audition! :)

I don't suppose there's any recording of the Josh's singing together, is there?

there's at least 1, and probably more, youtube video of that full Q&A including the duet - the quality of the videos is not always the best, though, as it's always folks in the audience with people around them, zooming in and out...

sometimes the image is bad but the sound is good, or vice versa, depending on the camera they used...

I'm sure if you search for the Q&A from the MSG arena, a couple will show up - you can look for the best one :)

Okay, I'll look it up. I bet just looking up his name by itself will come up with something.

Here they are singing My Heart Will Go On in Spanish! Fernando is Puerto Rican, so that's probably why they chose Spanish, whereas most classical singers sing pop songs in Italian. :)

Everyone performed twice tonight.

Here are Forte's 2 excellent performances of The Prayer and Caruso (especially Caruso)! :)

Josh Groban and Il Divo will be performing on the results show tomorrow night!

Forte unfortunately did not win, but got 4th place. :( I thought Kenichi Ebina probably would win, because he's very unique and very popular, but I at least hoped Forte would get 2nd, anyway.

Hopefully this will make it less likely for Simon Cowell to control their career. David Foster needs to work with them, NOT Simco. ;)

I'll be looking forward to their first album. They're the one tenor group I really like, and would seriously consider buying albums from and going to see live, whenever they get around to that (outside of the AGT tour, which I don't plan on attending, even if they come around here).

Oh, in case you're wondering why I mentioned David Foster, have a look here; Fernando has actually worked with him before! He actually already has an album, too. But I think the group of 3 guys works better.

Yes, to Simon Cowell's label, not surprisingly. But at least that means we get an album very, very soon! (Simon is known for churning out Got Talent artists' albums in time for the holiday seaso).

Their album is supposed to be out November 12, and already they have a single coming out on Monday the 30th! This Monday! It's Caruso. :)

I have to admit I enjoy their version more than Josh's; I've always thought, compared to Andrea Bocelli and others, he stumbles over the fast Italian. Every other singer I've heard has always made it sound much smoother, and Forte are no exception. Don't get mad at me for saying so, but it's true. Hey, Josh can't be perfect all the time, can he? We'd like to believe he is, but he's human too. :D
