The twitter posting at the top of the Josh boards is out of date. He's already tweeted about going into the woods to give Mother Nature a box of Russel Stovers. He also says "and no it's not a poop joke".

I like that he had to inform his followers that it wasn't a poop joke. I suppose we're sick-minded people.

I would like to remark on Mr. Groban's series of tweets, RE: "taking a while to make an album".
They seem almost defensive in nature. I doubt that it could be because of our remarks. I mean sure we're important because we'll buy the record. BUT, Mr. Groban should know by now: you don't have to impress us. We're already impressed. AND we don't know (or at least I don't) about making a record. Personally, I could probably make a record in a week. It would sound like cat-claws on a tin-roof, and nobody would buy it....except my mother, and she doesn't count. So, has someone in the industry given him grief about the time it takes to make the record?
Speaking only for myself, here's my thought:
Mr. Groban, I know from your reports that you're doing this in a way that you've never done before. You've stepped out of the 'annotated files of David Foster' comfort zone that has gotten you this far in the industry. Finding your way in a new environment/process takes trial and error. (and if anyone knows about the pain and frustration of trial and error, it's me. I do systems for a living. To quote Mr. Edison: I know 50,000 things that won't work. But I also know that when you find the one that does work, it's practically magical and extremely satisfying.)
I joke about wanting the new record because I LIKE your work. But take the time you need. LEARN from the process and come out of it not just with a record that I'm sure we'll all adore, but you'll also have am immense sense of accomplishment for having taken yourself to a place you've never been before. When it's all done, I imagine the vistas will be spectacular from that vantage point.

A humble fan with a predilection for bad jokes in the improper threads,
-A

P.S. Never feel the need to explain yourself. Your friends won't need it and your enemies won't believe you anyway.

(Would like to keep this part of this post in the twitter thread. Thank you.)

LOL...I think Russel Stover candy belongs deep in the woods. Preferably, buried deep in the ground where bears won't find it.

I like what he said the other day, about the Classical Crossover music industry:

"I take a while to make an album because 90% of it is new music. there is a huge lack of originality in "crossover" music right now...

"...there are some tremendous singers reaching a mainstream audience which is the good news...but if they all keep singing the same songs...

"...they will all cancel each other out. I'm inspired to keep raising the bar and beg everyone to write more!! "

You tell'em Josh!

What he says is so true. I've been thinking similar thoughts for a while now. That's why I just can't get interested in every crossover artist there is, because they all sing so many of the same songs, and even their voices start to sound too similar, or just not incredible enough. You know, 'cause there's only one Josh! :)

One other "crossover" artist who is showing more originality lately is Hayley Westenra. Both of her last 2 albums, Treasure and Winter Magic, contain several songs that she wrote, and they were all so beautiful, among the best songs on the album! Even her best songs ever! She's planning to have as much original material on her next album as possible; she'll be working on it soon. :)

A long walk in the woods with your favorite girl (Mother Nature) and a box of chocolates. It can't get better than that! Enjoy your day, and please share the candy! ;)

Russell Stover's candy is my favorite of all time, especially the dark chocolate raspberry parfaits and the light chocolate butter creams.

Long ago he said his favorite was the box of See's the family got for Christmas every year, and he liked the dark chocolate best, but I hope his walk in the woods was relaxing, even if he meant a metaphorical woods. :)

Just occurred to me being a big South Park fan, he might have been thinking of one of the characters...hah
