2010 Birthday Bash for Batonga Runs Feb 13-27!! Give a Birthday Present to Josh by Supporting JGF!

I have just received an email from Val, who says:
Hi Cathy!
That's wonderful your team is sponsoring a girl!
1) Please send to gfc@grobanitesforcharity.org a list of the names and the amounts they person is each paying.
2) Whoever is paying by credit card should fill out and submit the form for FREETOWN with their credit card information and the amount they are paying (for team member's they can just say "Cathy's group").
3) Just let us know who needs to pay by paypal and we can send them an invoice.
Thanks!
Val
p.s. to Meg, I'll take one of the girls down now since there are only a few left!!
So I think we should do the following:
- I will send the email to gfc@grobanitesforcharity with a list of contributors and the amounts they are paying
- Per your comments to me, this list will look like this:
- Cathy (NorthernStar) - $20
- Cathy (Grannybird) - $20
- Cathy (Grannybird)'s daughter Lisa - $20 (she would like a separate tax receipt)
- Krisz (Noondarkly) (on behalf of herself & the Hungarian Grobies) - $60 (via PayPal)
- Susan (Feb27Song) - $20
- Lory (Lilflo) (on behalf of herself, her sister & friend) - $60
I will also ask GFC to issue a PayPal invoice to Krisz.
Cathy, Susan & Lory ... each of you (and I) should now go to the Freetown Sponsorship form and complete its details for our credit card payments. Remember to type "Cathy's Group" into the space where the list of team members is requested. I put the number of team members as "6" and they want your dollar amount to be entered as a number only (no $ or .00 to be included). FYI, the system did not divide $200 by 6, so there were no problems with entering "20" as my dollar amount.
As you can see from Val's comment at the end of the email, she has reserved one of the last few girls for our group.
Hugs to you all - talk to you soon!
If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email or PM.
Ciao -
Cathy

You are the best to organize this and the GFC is the best to offer all kinds of options for people to help and Grobies are the best to be so generous and, well, Josh is the best- because we said so!!!!!! LOL!

Just wanted to say it out loud ... thanks so much for your participation in the sponsorship of our Freetown girl.
I am thrilled that we have been able to bring people together from 3 countries (USA, Canada & Hungary) and make a real difference to someone's life in South Africa.
Now that's what I call TEAMWORK! This is what it's all about.
Way to go, gals!
And warm thanks too to Val, Sami & everyone at GFC / GFA for making this possible. This fundraiser rocks!

Greetings all ....
I owe Lory an apology - I just found out that she is from New Zealand!
So that means that the above comment SHOULD be:
I am thrilled that we have been able to bring people together from 4 countries (USA, Canada, New Zealand & Hungary) and make a real difference to someone's life in South Africa.
Wow .... it really is a small world, isn't it!
Have a great day everyone!

I am a greedy person and I would like to know if all of us sponsoring a girl can get news from/about her...? My problem with donating to charities sometimes is that I don't know where my money's going... seeing an immediate effect means so much, right? Thinking of the fact that a human being, a certain and actual human being will benefit from my small donation just makes all the difference.
It's okay if I don't find out about her, of course... but it would be lovely!!!!!

Joella - you rock my socks too - thanks!
And thanks again to everybody on our team - this was a lot of fun and I'm so tickled that we were able to do it - well done!
What a wonderful way to send our birthday wishes to Josh.
Krisz ... I seem to remember seeing somewhere (perhaps over at FOJG?) that Val & Co. at GFC said they would be able to provide us with a little bit of information about the Freetown girl that we have sponsored.
I'll see if I can find that source and its details ... and if I do, I will share them.

Krisz,
This is what Kim, one of the GFA Co-chairs wrote on the FOJG board:
"Lily, I do have the list of names of the 25 girls in Freetown, but in their situation, we will just be able to send progress reports about the school and not individual progress of each girl. If you'd love to have a name with your sponsorship, I can certainly get that for you."
I hope that we can get a name with our group sponsorship and that we are able to get the progress reports.
That would be great!

Susan - thanks so much for finding that info and posting it. I'll send a message to Kim / GFA and ask if we could have a girl's name to associate with our sponsorship - great idea!
And ... I must correct myself here. While there is also a city in South Africa named Freetown, our girl is in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Sorry about that ... brain cramp!
Talk to you later -

GFC/GFA cannot provide a list because there may be some who prefer not to have their information publicized, but you are welcome to ask everyone who has sponsored a girl to add their name to a list that you can start, and maybe you'll get a good response. Again, the GFA team thanks you all for your cooperation in creating teams and your assistance in finding sponsors for all 103 girls.
