Happy 2014 Birthday Auction and welcome to the Seeds of Love Project!
Jenn, Corriane and I are thrilled to work together on this project to help raise money for the Find Your Light Foundation. We have had this project in mind for a long time and are so glad to finally see it come to fruition. We wanted to create this site as a supplement to the thread for the auction, which can be found at:
Please feel free to post questions, comments, and concerns about the Seeds of Love Project on the Seeds Thread
As a reminder, the Seeds of Love Project’s webpage can be found at:

We were inspired by the way Josh works so passionately to help inspire others through the arts. We believe children need light and love to grow through the arts. With a donation to GFC, you will receive a seed paper that will blossom into something beautiful, just like a child can, with a little light and love.
The seed paper is in the shape of a music note and is embedded with an array of annual and perennial wildflower seeds. When planted in soil, exposed to sunlight, and watered, the paper blooms into beautiful flowers. We want to highlight the way children also bloom through the arts with a little light and love, and all that Josh has worked so hard to do for Arts Education.
There will be three tiers for donations. Full instructions can be found at the website listed above, but here is a brief explanation:
1.) Make a donation
Click on your preferred donation amount on the website. Please make sure you have already registered on the auction website!
$5 donation: receive a seed paper and to post a birthday message to Josh in the virtual garden
$10 donation: receive a seed paper, post a birthday message to Josh in the virtual garden, and get entered into the drawing to win a signed “Illuminations” poster
$25 donation: receive 3 seed papers, post a birthday message to Josh in the virtual garden, and get entered into the drawing to win a program from the National Arts Awards signed by Josh. (The program is from October 15, 2012, when Josh was presented with the Young Artist Award at the National Art Award Ceremony in New York City. It is the full art program and Josh signed the page with the name of everyone who donated.)
2.) Email Meg@grobanitesforcharity.org with...
- Your Birthday Message
-The Name you want listed on your message (board name, first name, both, or as anonymous)
-Your flower choice (see options below)
NOTE: Please keep in mind the size of the flowers when creating your birthday message. We may ask you to adjust your message if it won't fit within the flower's space.
Supporters outside the US:
We are very sorry; international laws prevent mailing seeds outside the U.S. Instead of the seed paper, Josh fans living outside of the United States will receive a special magnet. This was designed especially for you and will not be available anywhere else!
: If you make multiple donations at any of the 3 donation levels, you will receive multiple seed papers (or magnets) and can post additional messages for Josh. However, you will only be entered into the prize drawing ONCE at each donation level.
After you receive your seed paper, you can grow your flowers by following these instructions:
To grow your flowers, soak the paper in water overnight. Then, cover with a thin layer of soil and keep evenly moist until seedlings are established. Sprouts will appear in a week or two. Before you know it, your seed paper will have grown into flowers—a little reminder that beauty surrounds us every day.
You will receive a postcard with instructions for how to plant your seed paper when you receive the music note seed paper in the mail.
Full directions for the seed paper can be found at
Finally, we have created a website to create a virtual garden from the real flowers you will grow with your seed paper. We ask that in the coming weeks and months that people share photos with us to post on this website, so we can continue to watch the growth that is symbolic of all those who will be helped through your donation.
We set up the e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org Once you have pictures you can e-mail them to this address with your name and board name and we will upload them to the site!
A big thank you to all who participate!
